Opportunity for life science start ups

Bristol’s first science incubator, to provide lab space for early stage companies and entrepreneurs, is set to open in the coming months.

Construction started last year on Unit DX, which is a partnership with the University of Bristol’s SETsquared centre – named as the best university business incubator in the world.

The facility will have 10,000sq ft of lab space, with an additional 5000sq ft of office facilities. Unit DX will be providing access to mentoring and business support, as well as investors and industry networks through business partnerships.

More than half of the 183,000 life science jobs in the UK are located in the area between London, Cambridge and Oxford.
It is hoped that the new unit will mean scientific research can be turned into commercial business opportunities in another part of the country.
