LGC

Develop standards

The National Measurement Laboratory at LGC has received an award from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council to develop standards and deliver metrology training for engineering biology. Engineering biology has the potential to offer solutions to a range of societal challenges, including biomedicines. Standards and metrology are critical for more reliable engineering biology products, services, and production processes, helping to de-risk innovation and translate into industry.

Refeyn

AAV capsid analysis

Refeyn has launched the SamuxMP Auto mass photometer, which reduces manual operation time while increasing reproducibility in adeno-associated virus (AAV) characterisation. This new benchtop automated mass photometer addresses a bottleneck in AAV development: the need to efficiently characterise samples at multiple stages throughout bioprocessing.

It autonomously determines AAV sample purity, aggregation, and also empty/full ratios.

4D Products

Urine monitoring

4D Products and medical device consultants Medisyne are collaborating on the second stage of a project that seeks to take the pressure off NHS staff with new urine monitoring technology for hospitalised patients. The device, INFLUx, helps medical staff by automating regular urine monitoring, which is currently a time-consuming process. Design company 4D Products provides support from early-stage research all the way through to manufacture and commercialisation. Oxford-based Medisyne approached 4D Products to assist with the early-stage development of the device.
