Scientists have created a DNA-analysing smartphone attachment, which costs a fraction of lab-based kit.
The phone-powered pathology microscope could be mass produced for less than £400 a unit, it is claimed.
A research paper on the prototype microscope has been published in Nature Communications.
The authors state: “We demonstrate... that samples can be imaged and analysed using mobile phone microscopy, achieving a new milestone for tele-medicine technologies.”
