IBMS President Elect

Alison Geddis has been confirmed as the new President Elect of the IBMS.

She will be the second female President of the Institute and the first from Northern Ireland. Alison is the Laboratory Services Manager for the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service.

She has been a practising biomedical scientist for more than 30 years and has worked across cytology, haematology,
blood transfusion, stem cell banking and quality.

She said: “I am very proud to be a biomedical scientist and take every opportunity to promote biomedical science and all the unseen work of biomedical scientists across the whole of the UK.” She added that she is hoping to “build and expand on all the fantastic work that the IBMS has achieved and continues to do”.

Alison will take over from Ian Sturdgess as President in January 2018.
